Polyphenylene Oxide-PPO

PPO (Polyphenylene Oxide) is a high-strength plastic that offers excellent dimensional stability and dielectric strength, good creep resistance, and low moisture absorption even in hot and humid environments.

Plastics are a group of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that have been engineered to achieve specific properties. The most prominent characteristics of plastics are their low weight, machinability, corrosion resistance, and usually good thermal and electrical insulation properties. Certain plastic grades also offer glass-like optical clarity, low-friction or self-lubricating surfaces, and exceptional impact resistance. Depending on their properties, certain plastic grades can be used as alternatives to metal, glass, and ceramics. Toughness describes the ability of a material to absorb energy before breaking, while hardness (usually measured as indentation hardness) describes its resistance to permanent surface deformation. PPO is an alloy of PPO and styrene. Due to its inherent chemical composition, PPO exhibits very low moisture absorption and offers excellent insulation properties and dimensional stability over a wide range of humidity and temperature. PPO also has excellent impact strength, is lightweight, and is hydrolytically stable. PPO can operate continuously at temperatures in excess of 220°F.
